The Kabyle language (Taqvaylit) is spoken in Kabylia, as well as in a large part of the diaspora in France, Europe, Canada, and beyond.
A language of mountains, poetry, and resistance, Kabyle was transmitted orally for centuries before being gradually codified, taught, and digitized.
A living and diverse language
Several regional dialects exist: those of Upper Kabylia (Tizi Ouzou, Béni Yenni, Aït Yenni), Lower Kabylia (Béjaïa, Aït Waghlis), and Southern and Southeastern Kabylia (Bouira, Bordj).
Each region has preserved lexical, phonetic, and syntactic nuances that enrich the linguistic corpus.
